Man Allegedly Banished From his IGBO community in IMO State For Maiming:Membis247Blog

An unidentified man has allegedly been banished from Uzubi, Obodoukwu, in Imo State, after he confessed that he has killed a lot of people in the community.

A source who spoke to the media about the incident said that the man claimed that the spirits of the couple he killed had been tormenting him, and that was the reason he started confessing his atrocities to the villagers.

The angry youths of the community had to banish him from the community, and warned him never to set his foot there again to avoid being lynched. It is said that the incident happened on Friday February 4th.

In the viral video which surfaced on the internet, the man was seen with palm fronds around his neck, as the residents of the community sang and chased him out of their land.

As expected, the video attracted several reactions from members of the public, with many asking why the man was not handed over to the police so that he could be made to face the full wrath of the law, because by banishing him, he would simply move to another place and continue with his life.

Some said that banishing someone is Igbo culture, that killing someone who killed another is also killing in Igboland, so instead of killing the person, they banish such a person from their land. They said that banishing someone is perhaps the worst punishment they can give the person.

Some said that by banishing the person, it means the person is dead to them. That no one from there can ever have any business to do with the person again.

What do you have to say about this? Please feel free to share your thoughts with us.

We keep hearing many stories of domestic violence in different countries of Africa. During an open interview among men about domestic violence, some men came out boldly to tell the audience that they beat their wives at home. Some good men amongst them said it is never a good thing to beat your wife and they also condemned the act of domestic violence. During the interview which was held in Kenya, a particular man boldly said he's one of the men who beat up their wives at home and he has reasons for that. He said that it's a normal thing in Africa for a man to beat his wife so that his wife will respect him. He said he and other African men do it so that their wives will give 'em the respect they deserve. He said if you don't beat your wife, she would never respect you and also treat you like a nobody. (Typical African mentality). Someone also said ...
