President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday said he would not release leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu from detention.
The president, in an interview with Channels Television, said he would not interfere with the work of the judiciary.
Buhari had told Southeast elders who visited him sometimes ago that he would consider releasing Kanu.

President Joe Biden will tell Americans that his predecessor, Donald Trump carries singular responsibility for the deadly Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol when he marks the first anniversary of the assault on Thursday, the White House said.
Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, both Democrats, will speak on Thursday morning at the U.S. Capitol, one year after a mob loyal to Trump raided the complex in a failed attempt to stop the certification of Electoral College votes that officially delivered Biden’s election victory.
Nigerian Military Sends Warning To Governors

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has warned politicians and others against wearing military uniforms and accoutrements.
Acting Director of Information, Air Commodore Wap Maigida issued a statement to this effect on Thursday.
The spokesman decried campaign posters showing some governors dressed in camouflage uniforms.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said that it is constitutionally bound to register qualified political associations as political parties.
INEC National Commissioner and Chairman Information and Voter Education Committee (IVEC) Festus Okoye said this in an interview with "Daily Trust".
This is as he also said 101 political associations have applied to the commission to be registered as political parties ahead of the 2023 general elections.
Robbers Invade UI Hostels

Some students of the University of Ibadan, Oyo State, were injured early on Wednesday when robbers invaded Barika area, Agbowo community in Ibadan North Local Government area of the state capital.
Agbowo is the host community of the university where many students resident.
Daily Trust gathered that the robbers arrived at the area around 2am and started shooting.
