But, something stood out. That is, some key persons were dropped and replaced by new personalities. Prominently missing from the new board is its former Chairman, Senator Ifeanyi Ararume from Imo State. Obviously, Buhari dropped him and replaced him with another person, Margery Okadigbo who is the wife of late former Senate President, Chuba Okadigbo. This development raised eyebrows among some Nigerians who did not understand why this happened.
Why did Buhari appoint Mrs Okadigbo?
As a way to provide answer to the question many people have been asking, the Presidency decided to oblige. It was revealed that Buhari appointed Mrs Okadigbo into NNPC board to repay the kindness of her late husband. This was made known by one of the presidential spokesmen, Femi Adesina. It would be recalled that Buhari and Okadigbo were good friends and political allies to the extent that they contested for President on a joint ticket years ago but they lost. They also fought it together through the court but the case did not end in their favour before Okadigbo died years later.

However, late Okadigbo was kind to Buhari during their years of friendship and political alliance. Even after Okadigbo died, Buhari did not give up on the presidential dream they once fought together as allies. He kept on fighting hard and working towards it until luck smiled on him in 2015 when he won the post. Although, he did to appoint Okadigbo's wife immediately, but years later, he appointed her to head that vital post in NNPC.

Another reason why Buhari appointed Mrs Okadigbo was to prove that he does not forget. According to Adesina, Buhari does not forget the good anyone did to him no matter how long it took. Although, some people criticize Buhari for not forgetting the wrongs done to him in the past, Adesina made a different point by emphasizing that Buhari does not forget the good people did to him instead. This he backed up by saying that Buhari appointed Margaret Okadigbo and Constance Harry Marshall 19 years after to prove that he did not forget the good their late husbands did to him many years ago.

Despite the fact that their husbands are dead long ago, the good deeds they did have not been forgotten by Buhari. That is why he decided to reward the widows as a way of repaying the good deeds of their late husbands.
